Situm Mapping Tool

Download and Install: Download the Situm Mapping Tool app from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iPhone. Install the app on your smartphone or tablet and open it to start mapping your indoor space. Create an Account or Log In: Sign up for a Situm account or log in with your existing credentials. This account will allow you to manage your indoor maps, store calibration data, and integrate with Situm’s SDK if needed. Capture Floor Plans: Begin by capturing the floor plans of the indoor space you want to map. You can either upload existing floor plans in image or PDF format or use the app to draw a basic layout directly on your device. Ensure that the floor plan is accurate and up-to-date. Calibrate the Indoor Space: Calibrate the indoor environment by walking through the building while the app collects data from Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth beacons, and the smartphone’s sensors. This process helps the app to understand the building's layout and improve the accuracy of indoor positioning. Define Points of Interest (POIs): Mark important locations within the building, such as entrances, exits, elevators, restrooms, and specific rooms or offices. These Points of Interest (POIs) can be used later for navigation or location-based services. Set Up Navigation Paths: Define paths and routes within the building that users can follow. This is particularly useful for creating turn-by-turn navigation within the app, allowing users to find their way through the building with ease. Test and Validate Positioning: Once the calibration and mapping are complete, test the indoor positioning system by navigating through the building with your smartphone. Check the accuracy of the positioning and make any necessary adjustments to improve the mapping data. Manage and Update Maps: Use the app to manage your indoor maps, update floor plans, add new POIs, or adjust calibration data as the building layout changes. Keeping the maps up-to-date ensures ongoing accuracy for indoor positioning. Integrate with Situm SDK: For developers, integrate the indoor maps and positioning data with your own mobile applications using Situm’s SDK. This allows you to add advanced indoor navigation, tracking, or location-based services to your app. Export and Share Maps: Export the indoor maps and positioning data for use in other applications or share them with team members, contractors, or clients. The app provides multiple export options to suit your needs.
